Red light ignored – e-biker (70) run over and killed by construction train

Date:

Despite the red light of the signaling system, a 70-year-old from Ottensheim crossed the level crossing in Niederottensheim at his hometown on Tuesday around 2.30 pm. Peter K. was hit by the trailer coming from the right that was pushed by a towing vehicle.

The driver of the e-bike did not stand a chance: he fell under the trailer, was run over and died at the scene of the accident.

Tragic detail on the side
Due to modernization work on the Mühlkreisbahn, the route from Linz Urfahr to Aigen-Schlägl will be closed from Saturday to Sunday 6 November.

A construction train was involved in the accident. As a local, Peter K. probably trusted that the route was closed.
