Lack of staff noticeable – Moscow officials flee from partial mobilization

Date:

According to a media report, numerous officials of the Moscow city government and federal authorities in the Russian capital are fleeing partial mobilization in the country. “In some departments, the number of male workers who have left Russia amounts to 20 to 30 percent of all employees,” the internet portal Vjorstka reported on Tuesday.

In particular, IT specialists left the country for the Central Asian ex-Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The background is that many civil servants, especially at lower administrative levels, are not protected from being called up as ‘essential’ cadres.

The death of a department head of Moscow City Hall in Ukraine, a few days after Russia’s partial mobilization, not only made headlines across the country but also sparked panic among his colleagues.

Lack of staff already noticeable
According to the report, the flight movement has led to work stoppages in several departments. The housing administration, health service and education department are given as examples. The staff shortage should also be noticeable in institutions subordinate to federal ministries.
