‘Towards destruction’ – Feyenoord chaos raged: violence and arrests

Date:

Blind destructiveness! The police had their hands full with the Europa League football match between SK Sturm Graz and Feyenoord Rotterdam (Sturm won 1-0): there were several injuries, evictions and arrests. Windows of houses were smashed, toilets in the stadium were destroyed. “The Dutch only aimed for destruction”, a Grazer told the “Krone” in horror.

Spectators in the stadium were shocked: Feyenoord’s chaos tore urinals from their anchorages, smashed them, attacked the police and attacked peaceful fans. “I’ve never experienced anything like this,” a stunned Sturm fan told “Krone.” Reportedly violent Rotterdammers mixed with the Graz fans and revolved there.

Items thrown at police officers
Police confirmed that damage to property in and around the stadium has increased. “Over the course of the game, there were occasional riots between the fans. After the game, the Dutch fans threw objects at the police officers and used pepper spray. We were well prepared, but the violence in the stadium was new to us,” police spokesman Fritz Grundnig told Krone.

Police used pepper spray
The police also had to use pepper spray several times. There were also several injured fans and officials after the game. The investigation is ongoing and all reports are currently being processed. The police action lasted until the early hours.
