The “Krone” reported on the fate of a seven-week-old boy who was “very likely” to be shaken to death. Allegations have been made against both parents. But on Friday, the regional court in Salzburg imposed custody of the mother (19) only on suspicion of murder. The father (25) is free again.
During the first interrogation, father and mother had accused each other of shaking and beating their son. The child died on Saturday. The parents were arrested on Thursday after the autopsy report became known: According to this, the child died with a “high chance” of a vibration trauma.
But Friday the tragic criminal case took a turn: the public prosecutor had applied for custody of both parents. But according to “Krone” information, the detention was actually only imposed in the case of the mother. However, the father was released in exchange for milder means. Apparently there is only the suspicion of torturing and neglecting defenseless people according to §92 StGB. The public prosecutor can still appeal against this decision of the subdistrict court.
The lawyer for the 25-year-old, Kurt Jelinek, said in the “Krone” interview: “My client has rightly been released. It has nothing to do with the death of the child.”
