The Russian president has warned that he will not stop the offensive until he has Donbas under control, pointing out that it is “impossible” to isolate Russia in the modern world with sanctions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that negotiations with Ukraine are at an impasse and is confident that the Russian armed forces will achieve their objectives of keeping Donbas under control.
“That will be the case. There is no doubt (that the armed forces will achieve their goals). The goals are perfectly clear and noble,” he said during a visit to Russia’s Vostochni Cosmodrome with Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko, according to the broadcast of his words on state television Rossía 24.
“The main aim is to help the people of Donbas,” he said, emphasizing the words he usually use to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
On the other hand, the president has assured that it is “impossible” to isolate Russia with sanctions in the modern world and that the country will work with the partners who still support it.
“We are not going to isolate ourselves. In the modern world there is no way to strictly isolate someone and it is completely impossible (to isolate a country as big as Russia),” he added.
