Explosives found – several injured after shots in metro station

Date:

According to media reports, several people were injured when gunshots were fired at a New York subway station. At least five people were hit by bullets, according to the American news channel CNN. There was also an explosion and unexploded explosives.

The incident happened during the morning rush hour at the 36th Street subway station. “Police responded to a 911 call at 8:27 a.m. from a person who had been shot on the subway,” a police spokesman said. Suddenly, the wanted perpetrator opened fire. The police called on the population via Twitter to avoid the area. The exact background is still unclear.

Police are currently looking for a “man who may have a ventilator”. There are even videos circulating on social media of passengers fleeing from a smoking subway. In this case, however, it is most likely a smoke grenade. Police emphasized that “no active explosives” had been discovered.

Eyewitness: “bang, then smoke and many injured”
An eyewitness, who was on her way to school with her daughter on Tuesday morning when a “loud bang” was suddenly heard at the subway station, saw “smoke and a lot of injuries,” the young mother told ABC News moments later.
