A 60-year-old was injured in a gas explosion in an apartment building in Baumgarten (Mattersburg district) on Tuesday night. The apartment owner was taken to the emergency room of the hospital in Wiener Neustadt.
The building was locked and the apartment that was hit was badly damaged, according to the Burgenland police. The investigation by the National Criminal Investigation Department was ongoing.
Explosion on the second floor
Emergency services left shortly after 11:30 p.m. The explosion took place on the second floor of a six-unit building. In addition to the 60-year-old, who was transported to hospital, another person was being treated at the scene, according to the state security center.
The volunteer fire brigades in Mattersburg, Schattendorf and Baumgarten were also deployed.
