Vandal action on the night of All Saints in Vienna: The headquarters of the federal party ÖVP in the city center was targeted by initially unknown perpetrators and smeared with red paint – a witness to the act was also insulted.
The crime is said to have taken place early in the morning. An oversized red “X” had been smeared on the glass entry portal of the party headquarters – apparently with spray paint. A passer-by noticed the crime and then alerted the police – not without consequences.
“Removing hate and hate breeding ground”
“What particularly affects me: an uninvolved witness who called the police to prevent further damage to the headquarters of the federal party ÖVP was insulted by the perpetrators. I want to thank her for her courage and moral courage,” said Secretary-General General Christian Stocker condemned the smear attack in the strongest possible terms: “Vandalism paves the way if there has been propaganda against dissenters before.” And further: “It must be the task of all democratic forces in the country to remove the breeding ground to take for hatred and hate speech.”
The attack may also have been captured by surveillance cameras. The material had already been made available to the police. Not the first act of vandalism – there have been several similar acts in the past.
