A sticker with the wrong label caused some confusion in Lower Austria when it came to corona vaccination. The outer packaging, which contained the vaccine ampoules, bore the inscription of the booster against the omicron variants BA. 4 and BA.5. However, the vial contained the vaccine against variant BA.1.
According to information from “Krone”, the incident happened about a week and a half ago and was due to a wholesale error. Specifically, only the outer packaging was incorrectly labeled, the bottles themselves were correctly labeled.
The vaccines were only supplied to doctors in the established area, it said on request. It is unclear whether the vaccine has been vaccinated at all, according to a spokesperson for Notruf Niederösterreich. Up to 60 people could be affected – this is because the box contained vaccine for 60 people who wanted to be vaccinated.
