Fleeing war – 400,000 Russians went into hiding for mobilization

Date:

According to Western government sources, an estimated 400,000 Russians have fled their homes as a result of the partial mobilization. The number does not include those who had already left the country because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. Many Russians have not only fled abroad, but have also gone underground at home to avoid confiscation, Western government representatives said in an interview with journalists on Wednesday.

If you add that to the number of people actually called up, the decline in the workforce puts “a significant additional burden on Russia’s economy and public finances,” they said.

82,000 men already deployed at the front
Moscow announced last week that the partial mobilization of 300,000 reservists for the war in Ukraine, which began in late September, has now been completed. About 82,000 of the men have already been deployed to the front and the rest are currently being prepared for combat in Russia. New mobilization measures are not planned.

Securing a 1,100 kilometer front line
The soldiers at the front must ensure that Russia does not lose the Ukrainian-annexed and partially occupied regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. Putin had stated that it involved securing a front line about 1,100 kilometers long. Ukraine wants to re-liberate the areas – and the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014.
