Secret documents have appeared on social networks about plans by the US and NATO to support the Ukrainian army – it is about a planned offensive against Russia. However, analysts noted that the contents of the documents appear to have changed. They suspect that a disinformation campaign from Russia is behind it.
The New York Times newspaper reported on Thursday (local time) about the classified documents, citing US government officials. The US Department of Defense is therefore investigating who is behind the publication. The documents were circulated through the social media platforms Twitter and Telegram, it said.
The US government wants documents removed
However, according to analysts, the contents of the documents appear to have been altered in a way that could indicate a disinformation campaign from Russia, the report said. Attempts by the US government to have the documents removed have so far been unsuccessful, the newspaper writes.
