Sad news comes from Germany: on August 15, a 15-year-old from Vorarlberg fell into a manure shaft. The young man, who was doing an internship on a farm there, could be resuscitated – but now lost the fight for his life.
The tragic accident occurred on 15 August in the municipality of Aulendorf north of Ravensburg (Baden-Württemberg), not far from the border with the Ländle. A 15-year-old from Vorarlberg was working on a manure pipe on a farm when he suddenly fell into the shaft and lost consciousness.
A 41-year-old woman wanted to help him and also fell into the shaft. She also lost consciousness. Both were rescued from the shaft, resuscitated on the spot and taken to hospital.
Nearly two weeks later, the boy, who had been on the farm as part of an agricultural internship, lost the fight for his life, German authorities announced. The 41-year-old is still receiving medical treatment and police are investigating how the accident could have happened.
