Critical Clue – “Boat Crash”: Witness Leads Police to Driver

After a metal bolt had penetrated the windshield of a 20-year-old driver, the police called for help via a witness appeal. In fact, a man called the police in Kaprun because he could connect his purchase to the ‘bolt crash’ via media reports.

On Wednesday, a flying metal bolt pierced the windshield of a 20-year-old Pinzgauer on the Mittersill federal road. The driver was injured in the face and caused an accident.

Also on Wednesday, but not until the afternoon, a man is said to have asked for a metal bolt for his truck in a shop in Eugendorf. He lost it. What was not surprising to an attentive witness at the time of the event, later turned out to be an important clue. After the numerous reports about the mysterious metal bolt, the man became suspicious. He called the police in Kaprun and reported his sighting.

Subsequently, the police were able to use the registration company to identify a Croatian citizen who was driving the truck on this section of the route at the time of the accident. Further investigations are now underway.

The bolt was said to have come loose from an oncoming truck, probably orange and with a crane body. The victim of the accident could not say more. The driver of the truck had disappeared. Now the driver has been identified thanks to the witness.
