200m fall – BASE jumper (72) thrown against rock wall – dead

Date:

Terrible end to a parachute jump on Wednesday in Lower Austria: A 72-year-old base jumper jumped from the viewing platform on the Hohe Wand. The Viennese was thrown against a rock wall when opening the parachute and then fell 180 to 200 meters to his death.

The Viennese jumped from the “Skywalk” platform on the Hohe Wand around 4 pm. When the parachute opened, the pull caused by the pull of the packed parachute may have taken the retiree to the rock face below the platform, police reconstructed.

The 72-year-old hit it with full force before falling all over the wall after falling. Air rescue workers and a doctor were transported by helicopter to the victim with a rescue cable, but were only able to determine the man’s death.

The body of the retiree was recovered by officials of the Southern Alps Task Force of Lower Austria with the support of the mountain rescue team Hohe Wand.
