Since September, the mother of a seriously ill son in the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya has been trying to get an electricity supply contract from the Lower Austrian supplier EVN – so far in vain. After “Krone” research at the energy giant, the next faux pas occurred in a series of unfortunate circumstances: the critically ill patient suddenly found himself alone in a dark and cold apartment.
Although she wanted to sign an electricity contract with EVN for her seriously ill son in September, a mother from the district of Waidhofen an der Thaya has not yet succeeded. The 28-year-old, who has an integrative job, was concerned about much-needed compensation of 150 euros for energy costs, the “Krone” reported.
Son stood in a dark apartment
Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, the power was cut off just the day EVN announced that the contractual problem would be resolved quickly.
When the son came home, he was not alone in the dark: his apartment is heated only with electricity. In addition, it cools down to four degrees at night in the Waldviertel. Food in the freezer was in danger of spoiling without electricity.
After his cry for help, the mother tried to pull out all the stops. She even reached out to someone in charge of EVN that night. Because she was also able to prove that all the information she had given about the upcoming energy contract was correct, the electricity was back on within an hour. The mother is very grateful for this “rapid personal commitment”.
Personal help offered
“That was our mistake, for which we apologize,” said EVN spokesman Stefan Zach. Help in this case of deprivation is a particular concern. The matter will be dealt with as soon as possible – the electricity contract will be concluded on the September terms and the customer will be compensated for the annoyance.
The energy cost reimbursement has been extended until March. Zach wants to make sure the son gets all the further energy help.
