After the massive layoffs at the short message service Twitter, co-founder and former boss Jack Dorsey apologized to the employees. “I realize a lot of people are mad at me,” Dorsey wrote on Twitter. He is responsible for putting the employees in this situation now: “I’ve grown the company too fast. Sorry about that.”
A week after it was acquired by multi-billionaire Elon Musk, Twitter fired about half of its 7,500 employees on Friday. Musk had fired Twitter’s management immediately after the takeover. Musk took over Twitter for $44 billion last Thursday.
The people on Twitter are “strong and resilient,” Dorsey wrote of the layoffs. They would find a way, even though the situation may be difficult right now. Dorsey co-founded the company in 2006 and stepped down as CEO last year. He also withdrew from the supervisory board in the spring.
