The quarterly water bill will rise by 2.4 euros next year in Bizkaia

Date:

In practice, the increase in the 2023 voucher will translate into an increase of approximately 9.6 euros per year, spread over the four invoices issued per quarter.

The General Assembly of the Bilbao Bizkaia Water Consortium has approved this afternoon a 5% increase in fees for supply, sanitation and purification for next year, which means: an increase in quarterly receipts of 2.4 euros for an average household consumption compared to this year.

As reported by those in charge of the Consortium, the decision is based on the studies carried out by the entity, which show that the current rates partially (about 77%) cover the costs incurred in providing the service, if necessary gradually complete the cost of the integral water cycle to 100%in accordance with the cost recovery principle of the European Water Framework Directive.

This decision, they have argued, reinforces the guarantee of the investment and transformative commitment the area needs to modernize the infrastructure, provide service under identical conditions in the municipalities created, as is the case with Busturialdea, and anticipate problems that can arise as a result of climate change, either from a lack of water resources or from prolonged periods of adverse weather conditions with abundant rainfall.

In practice, the increase of the voucher 2023 will result in an increase of approximately 9.6 euros per yeardivided over the four invoices that are issued per quarter.
