Dangerous situation during search in Maria Schmolln in Upper Austria: The missing person (28) was armed and allegedly threatened a firefighter.
The 28-year-old was on his e-bike in his hometown around 1 p.m. on Monday. Still not home after dark and unresponsive to calls, the mother reported the missing person to the police emergency number at 5:30 p.m.
Search editing with drone
Police patrols, a police dog patrol, Maria Schmolln and Schalchen fire brigades, emergency services and the rescue dog brigade were present in the case. There was also a drone.
A short time later, the missing person’s cell phone was found along a mountain bike trail on a dirt road. At 9:55 p.m., the man was then seen sitting on a dike in a wooded area. When asked to come up the embankment, the man was holding a shotgun and allegedly threatened a firefighter with it.
Cobra was instructed to search
The Cobra/DSE task force, the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) and the Standby Unit (BE) were then called in for reinforcements. The troops have cordoned off the area over a large area.
At 10:38 p.m., the 28-year-old ran out of the woods with his shotgun along a wall toward the center of Maria Schmolln. When the police asked her to put down her weapon, he stopped and allowed himself to be arrested without resistance. The alcohol test was positive.
Report to the public prosecutor
