Seat-Volkswagen accepts the allocation of support from the electric PERTE

The Seat-Volkswagen Group has informed the government of Spain that: accepts the assignment of assistance from PERTE of the electric vehicle, amounting to 397 million euros, thereby maintaining its investment project (10,000 million euros) in Spain, including the electrification of the Landaben plant (Navarra).

Volkswagen-Seat and the rest of the companies that have received support from the electric PERTE had until this Wednesday to let the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism know whether or not they accepted them, and the Volkswagen group has accepted them. exhausted period, after weeks of negotiations with the Spanish government and with the Autonomous Communities where it plans to invest in order to fulfill its plans.

Seat and Cupra CEO Wayne Griffiths emphasized that the German consortium, together with more than 60 partners, “we are going to invest 10 billion euros in Spain”.

The “Future: Fast Forward” project, led by Seat and the Volkswagen Group, has received the most funding from this first edition of PERTE for the electric and connected vehicle, and includes the electrification of the Martorell (Barcelona) and lanbaden and the construction of a battery-giga factory in Sagunto (Valencia).

The acceptance of Perte should give “rest”

The chairman of the works council of Volkswagen Navarra, Alfredo Morales, confirmed that the decision of the Volkswagen Group and Seat is “very positive news” and pointed out that “it should give the peace of mind that we should start the negotiation process on the pact for the future, which should give us what we need to guarantee employment after 2026”.

Regarding the electric models that Landaben will produce, Alfredo Morales explained that it is working with the prediction that two SUV models will be allocated, one from Volkswagen and the other from Skoda. “We are working with that forecast, waiting for next year in the planning round to confirm it,” he explained.

For its part, the spokesperson for the Government of NavarraElma Saiz, has emphasized that “it is an important economic injection for Volkswagen Navarra that will allow the Landaben plant to modernize its factory, so that the production of the electric car becomes an immediate reality, a guarantee to ensure the future of Volkswagen Navarra”.
