According to figures from the Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES), 3,207 new infections with SARS-CoV-2 were registered in Austria on Thursday. This is lower than the average of 3,741 cases in the past seven days. On Friday morning, 1,034 infected people were hospitalized, 25 fewer than the day before, minus 294 in the week before. 67 people are being cared for in the intensive care unit. Within a day, 13 Covid deaths were added to the 21,082 pandemic victims so far.
The effective reproduction number, which indicates how many more people an infected person infects, is currently 0.9. A week ago, the value was 0.78. There have been 5,484,553 confirmed cases in Austria since the start of the pandemic.
On Thursday, 17.006 Covid vaccinations were carried out, of which 15,893 booster vaccinations after the three-part basic vaccination. In total, more than 1.2 million people have received a booster vaccination to date.
