After the devastating fire in a multi-party apartment building in Klagenfurt, which killed a man, experts set out to find the cause of the fire. The results of the investigation are now in.
The apartment complex on Khevenhüllerstrasse was badly damaged by the fire on Wednesday and all apartments are currently uninhabitable. A man who was believed to be a tenant was killed in the fire at his home. Since then, officials from the State Criminal Investigation Department of Carinthia have been investigating the cause of the fire together with a fire expert.
Cause not entirely clear
“The fire was most likely caused by an electrical fault,” the researchers said. But: Even a glowing cigarette could not be completely ruled out as the cause of the inflammation. “There are no indications of debts to third parties.”
