Hundreds of people have reportedly contracted the coronavirus on a cruise ship in Australia. The broadcaster 9News spoke on Friday about 800 infected passengers and crew on the “Majestic Princess”. The shipping company Princess Cruises confirmed the virus outbreak without initially giving exact figures.
“The guests have only mild symptoms or are asymptomatic and are isolated in their cabins,” Australian media quoted a company spokesperson as saying. All unaffected passengers would also wear masks for protection. The crew had been ordered to don full protective equipment.
Cruise ship wants to dock on Saturday morning
The luxury ship will dock in Sydney on Saturday morning (local time). “While the government has said we have to live alongside Covid, it is a worrying thought that 800 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus will land tomorrow,” said a 9News reporter.
Organized private transport for infected persons
