The Viennese professional fire brigade freed a small dog from a plight at the central station on Friday evening. The chihuahua caught his paw as he exited an escalator.
The animal got stuck in a comb with its hind leg and could not be freed by Frauerl. To help the dog, the emergency stop button on the escalator was pressed and the fire brigade was alerted, the emergency services reported on Saturday.
While the firefighters calmed the dog and its owner, they released the comb plate, freeing the animal from its predicament. The dog was cared for by the crew of the fire engine and handed over to the veterinarian called by the owner.
