The Transport Defense Platform, which called for the statewide strike last March, has announced another indefinite strike starting at midnight on Sunday. Basque carriers have not joined the protest.
The Basque autonomous airlines grouped together asotrava have decided in meeting to “distance themselves” from the strike declared indefinitely in the sector by the Platform for the Defense of Transport From next Monday.
This position is in addition to that of the autonomous carriers of the Port of Bilbao and that of the Union of Autonomous Transporters of Euskal Herria Hi, who announced days ago that they would not support this strike. Nor will the Navarrese transporters from Tradisna participate, as the meeting to determine their position had very little participation.
In a note, Asotrava has expressed its “unanimous position against said exclusion”, since “objectively the conditions do not exist to adopt a measure of these characteristics which will only have serious consequences for the autonomous carriers themselves and for the sector in general”.
After pointing out that transport “continues to experience all kinds of structural difficulties”, Asotrava calls for “dialogue, agreement and serious, constant and permanent work of the sector with the various administrations” to continue “in the right direction, with measures, yes, which no longer drown the sector”.
Call for the Platform for the Defense of Transport
The Transport Defense Platform, the state-level group of self-employed and small transportation companies that called for a strike last March, announced a new indefinite strike from this Sunday midnight.
Given the various meetings held in Euskal Herria, the strike will not continue among Basque carriers.
