Dbus begins work for the electrification of garage facilities

Date:

This work aims to meet the company’s electromobility needs, by including new 100% electric buses in San Sebastián’s fleet.

This Monday, Dbus started work to transform the electrical infrastructure of the depot facilities, making it possible to integrate new 100% electric buses.

This work aims to meet the company’s needs in the field of electromobility, in the middle of the electrification process of San Sebastián’s bus fleet.

As the company explained in a press release, Dbus’ transformation to a zero-emission fleet “requires the renewal of the facilities’ electrical infrastructure.”

Currently, the four 100% electric buses in the fleet are pushing the capacity of Cocheras’s electrical connection to its limits. For this reason, they assure that “it is necessary to carry out the construction of an electrical line from the Egia distribution transformer station to the vicinity of the garages, approximately a distance of 1.5 kilometers, where a section center will be located.” The distribution of the direct electricity supply will start from the cutting center, via the transformation centers.

Diseases

The work will last approximately four months and in order to minimize the impact on the neighbors, the winning company that will carry out the work, the UTE formed by EDS Ingeniería y Montajes SAU and Altuna y Uria SA, has agreed to carry out the work planned. in parts with a maximum duration of 5 days.

The affected areas are: Pasaje Alkolea, Egia kalea, Aldapa kalea, Tolaregoia kalea, Gabriel Aresti Pasealekua, Ametzagaña kalea, Plaza Polle, Sibilia kalea and Fernando Sasiain.

The work started on Monday on Txurkoenestraat between numbers 11 and 19. To this end, the construction management reports that during the days on which the work is carried out, there will be approximately a few parking spaces and the adjacent sidewalk. The road and access to the homes will in turn be completely free.

The week of January 29, the other part of Txurkoenestraat will be carried out, i.e. the area between numbers 1 and 11. As in the first part, the parking spaces, as well as the sidewalk, will be affected contiguously. The road and access to the homes are not affected in any way.

As the works progress and as they approach the affected areas, a letter will be sent to the neighbors to inform them of the duration and consequences of the works, as has also been done with the residents of Txurkoenestraat. Additionally, in case a neighbor has any questions or would like more information, the winning company will provide a telephone number to be contacted in the said communication.

Electrification of the fleet

In this first phase of the garage’s electrification process, all charging connections will be realized for a total of 119 parking spaces.

The integration of new, 100% electric buses will begin this year, once electrification work on the facilities is completed. In concrete terms, the company has assured that it wants to receive 23 100% electric buses of 12 meters and six electric buses of 18 meters (articulated) in 2024.

Thanks to this renovation, a reduction of 960,000 liters of diesel and 2,600 Tm of CO2 is estimated.
