Date:

An air show on the occasion of the traditional Veterans Day in the US state of Texas was overshadowed by a serious accident. Eyewitness video shows two World War II planes colliding in flight, bursting into flames and falling to the ground. It is not yet known how many people were injured.

The Boeing B-17 WWII bomber was “shot down” by a smaller Bell P-63 Kingcobra on the sidelines of the “Wings Over Dallas” show, when both fighters were near a highway. A spokesman for the Dallas Fire Department said it could not say anything about the condition of the two pilots about 30 minutes after the accident. There is also no information about possible injuries on the ground.

A huge array of emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident to extinguish the burning aircraft and get spectators to safety. According to local broadcaster WFAA-TV, debris fell on Highway 67. The affected section had to be closed.
