In addition to the at-risk-of-poverty rate, PNV, PSE-EE and Elkarrekin Podemos-IU have agreed to add a new indicator to calculate the level of the RGI.
The amount of the Income Guaranteed Income (RGI) is calculated on the basis of the at-risk-of-poverty rate or depending on “the weighted average poverty lines after deducting the costs associated with the rental of the property”.
The modification of the Basque income guarantee law It is processed in the Basque Parliament and in the report responsible for its consideration PNV, PSE-EE and Elkarrekin Podemos-IU have agreed to an amendment to add a new indicator to calculate the GIR.
This legal project already had an agreement between the three groups, so that the benefit would no longer be related to the Minimum Interprofessional Wage and, from 2024, would be referred to the indicator of the risk of poverty, i.e. to 60% of the average income corresponding with the state as a whole. Now the three sides have agreed to add a new indicator to calculate the amount of the RGI.
In this way, the RGI will not only be calculated on the basis of the at-risk-of-poverty rate, but will also take into account “the weighted average of the income poverty thresholds corresponding to the Survey of Poverty and Social Inequalities, after deduction of expenditure related to the rental of the house”.
The amount ultimately allocated is the amount most beneficial to the recipient.
