An Air Malta plane, which departed from Malta International Airport to Vienna at 07:15 on Thursday, had to turn around due to smoke in the cabin and make an emergency landing. Flight KM514 landed at 8:07 a.m. after dumping fuel in accordance with in-flight safety procedures.
According to a report from the online portal “Austrian Wings”, the machine flew in codeshare with Austrian Airlines. Accordingly, the affected passengers were accommodated in hotels and rebooked. There had been no loss of pressure and the safety of the aircraft had never been compromised.
Malta International Airport (MIA) said in a statement that all passengers disembarked shortly after landing and airport operations were not affected by the incident. An investigation is underway into the cause.
