A video shared on social media showed the helicopter crashing almost vertically into a green area in the town of Jesús María, in Aguascalientes.
Days earlier, suspected members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación drug cartel had put up posters threatening authorities in Aguascalientes. The group is one of the strongest crime syndicates in Mexico.
There are numerous drug cartels and other criminal groups in the Latin American country, often associated with corrupt politicians and security forces.
