Tragic mountain accident on Friday in Tyrol’s Zillertal: A German mountaineer fell 120 meters over steep, rocky terrain in front of his two companions during a high-altitude tour. The injuries were so severe that the 32-year-old died during the helicopter flight to the clinic.
On Friday, the German went on a high-alpine tour to the “Kleinen Möseler” with two companions. The accident happened around 2:40 p.m. while descending the eastern ridge. At an altitude of about 10,000 feet, the 32-year-old fell about 400 feet over steep, rocky terrain for unknown reasons.
Companions immediately sounded the alarm
„After the companions immediately made an emergency call, they climbed down to the victim and provided first aid,” the Alpine police said. The German suffered serious injuries in the crash.
Injured dies during helicopter flight
After first aid at the scene of the accident, the seriously injured must be flown by emergency helicopter to the Innsbruck clinic. However, the man died on the way there.
