Attack on Hausmair’s inn in Vienna’s 7th district. Was meat hatred the motive for the crime?
On the night from Thursday to Friday, innkeeper Herbert Hausmair made an unpleasant discovery. To get the geese in the oven on time, the landlord had to go to his restaurant on Lerchenfelder Strasse around two in the morning.
As soon as he opened the door, he saw the red paint on the house wall. The restorer of the new building immediately informed the police. However, they could not find any fingerprints or other clues of a perpetrator. Herbert Hausmair is also in the dark: “I don’t know who did it, but that’s vandalism!”
But since the menu was apparently targeted, the culprit could be a meat hater. “We only serve meat of the highest quality. Animal suffering is low, especially when it comes to game,” the 56-year-old assures.
It’s not the first attack on the traditional inn. Not long ago, a full compost bin was emptied in front of the entrance. And there are always attacks in the surrounding bars too. “It’s cowardly, if someone has a problem, they should say it to my face,” Hausmair told “Krone”.
