There was a huge commotion when on June 21, 2021 – in broad daylight, in the middle of Linz – a man, covered in blood, stumbled from a house on Franckstrasse and collapsed. The Chechen (23) was attacked with a knife by an Afghan (25) and will stand trial on May 3 for attempted murder.
It was a colonel from Linz Police Headquarters who rode a bicycle through Franckstrasse on June 21 at around 5:25 pm. The off-duty police officer witnessed a group of men trying to break into a house. Thinking it was material damage, he called 911. But the situation was more dramatic: it was a matter of life and death.
Controversy in the drug environment
The men – all Afghans – wanted to take on a Chechen (23) with whom one of them (25) had got into an argument about a failed drug deal. The door was broken open and the Chechens stabbed with a butterfly knife. The car of his Bosnian colleague who had driven him to the Franckviertel was also demolished. Both men had fled the house from the Afghans.
Almost died
The stabbing victim, who had lost a lot of blood, was just able to drag himself out with his last strength. Doctors then fought for his life for days – successfully. Both legs of the seriously injured man had to be amputated. On May 3, the 25-year-old Afghan will stand trial in Linz court for attempted murder. An Afghan accomplice (24) is suspected of serious physical injury.
