Fire alarm on Sunday evening in Völs near Innsbruck: After a 65-year-old resident accidentally turned on the sauna in the basement, a fire broke out after a while. The alarmed fire brigade was quickly on the scene and could prevent worse. However, the woman and her husband had to be taken to hospital because they were suspected of smoke inhalation.
It was an accident with near-fatal consequences. The 65-year-old woman really only wanted to turn on the light in the sauna in the evening because she had temporarily stored some things there. But she turned on not only the light, but also the sauna itself.
The man noticed the smoke
Some time later, the fire alarm suddenly went off in the basement. The woman’s husband immediately checked what was going on and noticed thick smoke coming from the sauna. The neighbor immediately made an emergency call.
Couple hospitalized
„The fire brigades in Völs and Kematen came to the rescue with full force, quickly had the fire under control and extinguished the fire around 8:30 p.m.,” the police said. After first aid, the couple was taken to the clinic in Innsbruck with suspected smoke inhalation. The extent of the damage caused cannot yet be quantified.
