In Kalsdorf (Graz region), a dramatic traffic accident took place on Monday afternoon, in which a helicopter was deployed: a nine-year-old girl was hit by a moped while crossing the street on her way home from school and was seriously injured.
Two nine-year-old girls were on their way home from school and wanted to cross the street in the Kalsdorf district, where a 53-year-old was riding a moped. The students may have missed the vehicle when they wanted to transfer to the opposite sidewalk.
According to the police, the driver may have noticed the girls too late: he collided head-on with one of the two children. The girl suffered serious injuries, including a suspected fracture of the lower leg. After medical first aid, it was flown by rescue helicopter to the Graz regional hospital. The second student was unharmed.
According to the police, an alcohol test on the steering wheel came back negative.
