A driver of his SUV drove into an Apple Store in the US state of Massachusetts on Monday. The incident killed at least one person and injured 16 others. The uninjured driver is trapped.
According to prosecutor Timothy Cruz, the background to the incident in the small town of Hingham near Boston is still unclear. He left open whether it was an accident. It was a criminal investigation, it was emphasized.
Prosecutor: ‘Trying to process what happened’
The SUV drove through the window of the store and hit several people. “This morning was an incredible morning and people are trying to process what happened,” Cruz said.
When emergency services arrived, there were injured people lying both on the street and in the store who had to be taken to nearby hospitals after first aid. A customer who witnessed the incident told local broadcaster WHDH-TV: “I saw two people lying on the floor, tables were thrown aside. There was panic.”
