Spectacular accident late Tuesday morning in the Tyrolean lowlands: a truck with a trailer slipped on the snowy road near Fieberbrunn (Kitzbühel district) and then fell over the embankment into an underpass. The driver escaped relatively lightly with minor injuries. However, diesel leaked from the tank and spilled over a stream in a fish farm.
The accident happened around 11:15 am. As the police described to the “Krone”, the Bosnian driver (24) was driving the truck with a trailer from Hochfilzen in the direction of Fieberbrunn when he slipped in a winding section. The truck then left the roadway and fell over the embankment at the beginning of an underpass.
“The driver was able to free himself from the heavily damaged driver’s cabin,” said a police spokeswoman. He suffered minor injuries. After first aid at the scene of the accident, he was taken by ambulance to St. Johann District Hospital for further examination.
Diesel flowed into fish farming
As a result of the accident, a “considerable amount” of diesel fuel escaped from the tank, which then flowed into a fish farm via a stream. It is currently unknown if any animals were injured.
Further investigations are underway. The fire brigade of Fieberbrunn and St. Johann, the police and the ambulance came into action.
