The party island of Mallorca finally wants to get rid of its drunken image. Therefore, new rules have been agreed in consultation with the bar operators of the party mile Playa de Palma around the Ballermann. Public sex is prohibited, as are parties without outerwear and shoes. Funny costumes, megaphones and excessive drinking will also be banned in the Balearic Islands in the future.
In principle, only people over the age of 18 who are neatly dressed come to the bars at Ballermann. Outerwear and shoes are required. Access controls would therefore be tightened, the “Mallorca Zeitung” reports, citing the new code of conduct, which has also been signed by the operators of the Megapark, Bierkönig and Bamboleo. In the future, there will also be a search for “indecent clothing, drunkenness or tattoos with symbols of neo-Nazi groups and/or hate speech” at the entrance to the party hotspots. Violent behavior in general should be strictly prohibited.
Binges in public are taboo
Anyone who is thrown out of a pub should not just be able to move on to the next pub or disco An internal channel of communication between the bars aims to identify bullies and keep them as far away from the party mile as possible. There will also be a direct channel to the police.
Drinking in public is now taboo, especially drinking in large groups is prohibited, especially when minors are present. The use of drugs is also strictly prohibited on Playa de Palma and in the bars with immediate effect. There is no alcohol or tobacco available for minors to purchase in the bars and shops.
The sale of alcohol on the street or on the beach is strictly prohibited. No one may pull carts or carry vendors’ trays to sell food or drink. And not only the sale, but also the purchase will be sanctioned with immediate effect. “Advertising” for the consumption of alcohol, especially by scantily clad women, is now banned.
Leave your giant penises at home!
If you go to a fun bachelor party in Mallorca in the future, it’s better to leave at home half-funny jokes such as gigantic inflatable penises, rubber dolls or towels with suggestive images, and megaphones are also no longer allowed. Other ‘physical pleasures’ are also arranged with immediate effect: sexual intercourse or even obvious sexual acts are taboo in public – even in the car – in your own hotel room only with the windows closed.
Naturism outside the nudist beaches should also be sanctioned in the future, including walking around bare-chested along the party mile. Noise nuisance from, for example, musical instruments or loudspeakers, urinating in public spaces, leaving waste behind or hindering passing cars and cyclists can also be expensive. Anyone who is seduced into business by shell players or the ‘masseuses’ on the beach can expect a fine.
Sanctions can be expensive
The local authorities determine how high that is. Minor offenses are punished with fines between 100 and 750 euros, serious offenses with 750 to 1500 euros and very serious offenses with 1500 to 3000 euros.
