Bedbugs cause a stir again in an ÖBB train. A Linzer (75) had to share the compartment with the annoying animals and fled to another. The Federal Railways regrets the incident.
Awful! Karl W. (75) sat comfortably in Nightjet 40490 on Wednesday on his way home to Linz from Vienna, where he had attended a lecture. “At the height of Pöchlarn I suddenly discovered an insect on the back of my hand and quickly killed it,” the spry Linzer tells the “Krone”. After a quick internet search and after discovering three more animals on his pants, he quickly left the compartment in which he was alone.
Problems with conductors
“Then I went to the conductors and asked them to take pictures of the bugs on my pants. They refused to give me confirmation of this find,” said the Linzer irritated. The compartment was closed in any case. Also at the central Linz station, no one could help him, because the information desk was no longer manned at 10:20 pm “My wish was that a professional pest controller was called to remove the insects from my clothes. I was afraid of infecting my apartment with the parasites,” said de Linzer. When he returned home, he immediately put his clothes in the washing machine and now hopes to get rid of the vermin.
Apologies from OBB
This was not the first bedbug alarm on an ÖBB train. As early as October, an all-night jet couchette car had to be evacuated because of the parasites. ÖBB regrets the recent incident: “We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused by the said train journey.”
