A postman probably couldn’t believe his eyes on Thursday morning when he returned to his carrier bag in a Viennese stairwell. Because he discovered a stranger leaning over the sack, rummaging through the contents, and had already ripped open the packages. A fight ensued, which ended in the street.
Around 11 a.m., the delivery driver approached the suspected thief and called for help. The argument between the two men became tangible a little later and moved outside.
A witness noticed the brawl and called 112. The officials were able to arrest the alleged thief, a 41-year-old Austrian, on the spot. He is charged with attempted theft, assault, property damage and coercion. He made no confession. The postman suffered minor injuries in the fight.
