Official wounded – Two arrests after shots fired in St. Pölten

Date:

After a police officer was shot early Friday evening during a traffic check in St. Pölten and the car whose driver was to be arrested was secured Saturday evening, there are now two arrests.

According to the State Police of Lower Austria, the arrested suspects are a 24-year-old Austrian and a 28-year-old Romanian citizen.

According to the executive, a patrol from the police command of the city of St. Pölten attempted to stop a car traveling on Wiener Strasse towards Statersdorfer Strasse around 5 p.m. on Friday. But the driver ignored the request and just drove on.

Four shots
As a result, another patrol wanted to stop the car just before the intersection with Stattersdorfer Straße. The driver stepped on the gas again and allegedly ran to one of the officers. An officer then drew the service weapon and fired four rounds.

The driver managed to escape in the silver car. When the shots were fired, the impact of a projectile may have resulted in fragmentation, which injured one officer in the lower left leg and was taken to hospital.
