Because he intervened in a crowd in the Vienna U6, a 39-year-old witness was attacked and injured by two men on Thursday. The suspects say they had previously attacked a young woman, after which he wanted to come to the aid of the victim.

The two alleged perpetrators attacked the previously unknown woman on a subway train around 7 a.m. The 39-year-old observed the scenes and then intervened. “According to his own statements, he helped the young woman because the two would have spoken to her,” says police spokesman Markus Dittrich.

After getting off at Westbahnhof station, the helper was attacked by the two suspects, two Romanians aged 23 and 25. He was injured by being punched in the face. Witnesses received help through the emergency call from the police, the alleged perpetrators have been arrested for the time being.
