Police officers in Vienna’s inner city were alerted on Sunday night after a 20-year-old was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by an initially unknown perpetrator.
The incident happened near the stairs at the Danube Canal when the suspect attacked the victim and then fled. The 20-year-old received medical attention at the scene and was then taken to hospital. There is no danger to life.
Hunting knife as a murder weapon
After a short time, the police were able to arrest and detain the alleged perpetrator, a 16-year-old boy, on the basis of a personal description. The alleged murder weapon, a hunting knife, was also seized.
The suspect is in police custody. Further investigations are ongoing.
