Big horror for a 64-year-old driver on Saturday evening: when the man from the Wolfsberg district in Carinthia was driving on the Packer national road, a fire suddenly broke out.
The 64-year-old was driving on the Völkermarkt when the accident happened. He responded quickly, parked his car in a driveway and was able to get out of the car in time. At that moment the entire engine compartment was on fire, but the police and fire brigade were not long in coming.
There were 16 emergency services on the scene
“The officials of the PI Völkermarkt were able to get the fire under control with a hand fire extinguisher,” the police said. “The subsequent extinguishing work was then carried out by the Völkermarkt fire brigade, which was on site with 16 firefighters.”
According to the current state of the investigation, the cause of the fire, which caused significant material damage to the car, may have been a technical defect. Fortunately, the 64-year-old driver was not injured.
