The social insurance for the self-employed (SVS) will pay a surcharge of 100 euros for checks from next year. For example, more people should be motivated to have their health examined and to develop awareness.
In the previous year, about 15 percent of the population had a check-up, women more often than men. With the pension bonus, this number should now increase, at least for the self-employed. “We want to create awareness and provide an incentive,” said insurance chairman Peter Lehner. The surcharge is € 100 and can be requested once per insured person in the coming year. This includes all SVS insured persons and their co-insured family members.
No application required
No application is needed to get the money. The 100 euros will be paid together with the settlement of the fee. “Prevention is the key to health. Without it we have a bad position in medicine (…). Prevention also brings economic benefits in the long run,” said senior physician at SVS, Eva Hilger, at a press conference on Wednesday. Other offers such as the “SVS 100” for health activities will continue.
More will be processed digitally in the future. The SVS wanted an “efficient and modern health system,” it said.
