Possible victims wanted – shots in St. Pölten: Police request information

Date:

In the case of a driver who broke through several police roadblocks in St. Pölten on Friday and fired shots when he was unsuccessfully stopped, witnesses and possible victims are now being sought.

According to information from Thursday, people may have been endangered by risky overtaking maneuvers in oncoming traffic and by ignoring traffic lights and road signs.

Information is requested from the city police command (tel.: 059133-353333).

Pedestrian threatened with bicycle
The escape route led via Mariazeller Strasse, Schulring, Rennbahnstrasse, Eybnerstrasse, Klostergasse, Willi-Gruber-Strasse, Wiener Strasse, Statersdorfer Hauptstrasse and B1a to the Landhaus garage. In the Mariazeller-Straße/Heidenheimer Straße area, the 25-year-old entered the intersection despite the red light and likely significantly endangered a pedestrian pushing her bicycle across the protection path.

Police officer injured by gunshot
The driver is said to have approached an officer around 5 p.m., so that he fired at the tires of the car with his service weapon. The impact of a projectile may have resulted in fragmentation, leaving a police officer injured in the lower left leg and requiring outpatient treatment at St. Pölten University Hospital.

The 24-year-old without a driver’s license then tried to escape by train with his 28-year-old companion. The duo were arrested at St. Pölten train station. Both do not have legal residence in Austria. The 24-year-old was taken to St. Pölten Prison. The Romanian was reported.
