In view of the falling corona figures, the South Korean government has announced that most corona restrictions will be lifted. “The midnight curfew for shops and the 10-person limit for gatherings will be lifted from Monday,” Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum said Friday. For the time being, however, the mask obligation should continue to apply.
While face masks may no longer be required outdoors in less than two weeks, they will still be needed indoors “for a significant amount of time,” authorities said. However, restrictions on eating out in establishments such as movie theaters will be lifted from April 25.
South Korea appears to have passed the peak of the latest wave of infections. Over the past week, fewer than 100,000 cases have been reported daily on average. In mid-March, there was a peak of 620,000 cases.
