Accomplice fled – burglar died shortly after tobacco shop coup

Date:

The excitement was probably too great: a 59-year-old Romanian literally staged his latest coup at around 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in a supposedly unlocked tobacco shop in Regau, which he looted with a previously unknown accomplice.

The crook duo stole cigarettes, cash and postal vouchers with a total value of 5,000 euros. But the joy of the successful coup did not last long, at least for the 59-year-old perpetrator. Being only about 500 meters from the crime scene, he collapsed at a bus stop at 5:45 pm. His shocked accomplice asked passers-by for help and stammered something about ‘hospital’ in a foreign language. Then he gave heels, left his cronies lying around.

ordered autopsy
The emergency doctor tried to resuscitate the Romanian, but without success. Although outside influence is not assumed, the prosecutor’s office in Wels has ordered an autopsy. Footprints in the tobacconist and parts of the stolen goods at the bus stop subsequently revealed that the dead man was a burglar.
