A series of armed robberies broke out in Vienna on Monday. In addition to a street robbery with young people, a cigar shop and a gas station were also raided.
Two young people (16, 17) were approached on the street in Vienna-Donaustadt by three other boys (12, 14 and 17). One of the three would have threatened the two with an airsoft gun, according to the police. He asked the 16 and 17 year olds to give up their mobile phones. But the two refused. The 12-year-old then attacked the two with his fists. However, the two youths managed to run away and call the police.
A short time later, two suspects were arrested. The twelve-year-old is not yet of age and can therefore not be prosecuted for the robbery, but must take into account an internal police report.
Next robbery in a tobacco shop
A previously unknown perpetrator allegedly demanded cigarettes and cash at a tobacco shop in Vienna-Favoriten and threatened employees with a silver pistol. Moments later, he ran off with the money. So far there is no trace of the suspect.
Threatened employees with weapons
Another unknown perpetrator threatened employees with a black gun at a gas station in Vienna-Favoriten and demanded cash. The employee immediately handed this over. In this case, too, the man asked for extra cigarettes. There is also no trace of the suspect.
The Vienna Criminal Investigation Department is investigating all three cases. No one was injured.
