A 38-year-old man’s car was torn in two in an accident on Loferer Straße near Wörgl in the Tyrolean lowlands on Tuesday morning. The driver has life-threatening injuries. The helpers were shown a picture of horror.
The accident happened just before 10 a.m. The 38-year-old was traveling from Bruckhäusl towards Wörgl on the B 178. For reasons that are still unclear, she overtook a car despite oncoming traffic. An oncoming 62-year-old Austrian tried to dodge, but grazed the 38-year-old’s car.
The man’s vehicle crashed into a concrete protective wall and then hit two other cars. The 38-year-old’s car crashed into a guardrail and broke in two. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and had to be severely injured with rescue scissors and flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
Another person was seriously injured
The 62-year-old’s passenger was also seriously injured and taken to Kufstein Hospital. All others involved were unharmed. At the scene of the accident, Loferer Straße was closed to all traffic until 1 p.m.
