Six criminals wanted to smuggle ecstasy worth 45 million pounds (about 52 million euros) from England to Australia. However, the accidentally sent photo of a dog in an encrypted chat blew up the plan.
In December 2020, 55-year-old Danny Brown and his accomplices hid nearly 450 kilos of ecstasy in the backhoe of an excavator (photos below) and wanted to ship the machine to Australia. However, detectives already targeted the drug smugglers.
Because the detectives had hacked into the gang’s encrypted chat. A photo of a dog belonging to Brown’s partner put the officers on the trail. Bad luck for the band: there was a phone number on the dog tag.
Brown’s accomplices were found guilty last June and the 55-year-old was sentenced to 26 years in prison on Tuesday.
